FIVE STEP DEADLIFT SETUP
5 STEP DEADLIFT
Let’s face it, as far as exercises that build full body strength, the deadlift and the squat are unparalleled. If you have a “bad back”, you should be deadlifting to fix it. If you’re looking to put on size and be stronger all around, you should be deadlifting.
People are afraid of the deadlift, and rightfully so. We’ve all seen the videos (or in person) of people doing heavy deadlifts with sketchy form that can often lead to injury.
Well we are here to show you the simplest, most effective method for teaching and performing the deadlift known to man, stripped straight from the teachings of Mark Rippetoe of Starting Strength fame.
Perform the deadlift with this technique and make strength gains for years with very little risk of injury.
Before we get into the setup…We just dropped the only resource you’ll ever need for nailing the perfect, safe deadlift every single time.
We covered everything from the right shoes to wear, to selecting the right weight, and even threw in a sample training program too.
We call it “The Ultimate Deadlift Guide”. - Grab it today before it’s too late by clicking the Yellow Button below.
Ok, here we go!
Step 1: Stand with your feet under the bar so that the bar is over the middle of your foot. Place your feet as wide as you would to jump. This will place the bar 1 inch from the shin in most people.
Step 2: WITHOUT BENDING YOUR KNEES, take a grip on the bar just outside of your legs. DO NOT ROLL THE BAR.
Step 3: Bend your knees until your shins touch the bar (DO NOT ROLL THE BAR) and push your knees out into your elbows.
Step 4: (STILL NOT ROLLING THE BAR) Squeeze your chest up and out so that your back becomes flat. Don’t drop your hips during this step.
Step 5: (STILL NOT ROLLING THE BAR) Fill your belly with air, contract your abs and drag the bar up your shins and thighs maintaining contact until your hips and knees are fully open and you are standing straight up.
BOOM! You just performed the perfect deadlift!
