SUSTAINABILITY
SUSTAINABILITY
Sometimes it's fun to chase a physical goal regarding aesthetics or body composition. Goals can help keep us focused and help us with discipline.
Realize that your goals, while usually achievable, might not be very sustainable long term. Or it's possible that they may not be very healthy to be sustained for long periods of time.
If you're trying to gain strength and mass by eating at a large caloric surplus for an extended time, the excess fat you put on may put you at an elevated risk for things like type 2 diabetes or visceral fat accumulation.
If you're trying to get shredded for summer or for some big event, those super low body fat levels can wreak havoc on your recovery, hormones and mental health.
My point is, be realistic about the maintenance of your goals. Don't sabotage your health for vanity.
