How to Read Food Labels

Everyone knows how to read the ingredient list on the food package, but how about the nutrition label?

Turns out it’s not obvious to people that are just starting out.

The nutrition label is responsible for showing you:

  • The serving size

  • The total calories per serving

  • How those calories break down across the 3 macronutrients (protein, carbs and fat)

  • The amount (in grams/milligrams) of fiber, cholesterol and sodium.

So if you’re trying to be more aware of what you’re eating, the nutrition information is a great place to start.

In this 6:00 video we review three food products, how to read the label, what to be aware of, and how to calculate for yourself the calorie content.
