What To Buy For The Perfect Garage Gym

You don't have to have a gym membership these days to have access to tons of top quality workout gear.  Brands like Rogue Fitness have made buying everything you need to build muscle and burn calories online a breeze.

If you've decided to drop some coin on some equipment to build your own "at home" gym, here are our recommendations on where to start.

 

Resistance Bands - There is so much you can do with these.  Great for upper body and for warmups.

Hip Circle - Oh man this thing is dangerous.  Great for glute and hip work.  There are lots of knock offs but the Mark Bell brand is the best quality we've found. 

Plyo Box - Super useful for jumps, step ups, dips

Squat Stand - You know we love squats!  This will also be your stand for bench pressing.

Bench - We have several of these benches.  The quality is great!

Pull Up Bar - You'll want a place to attach bands to, as well as do pull ups on. 

Barbell - We have a lot of these bars and they are good for just about everything.

Weight Plates - No reason to get anything fancy here.  They are actually great to pick up used on craigslist if you can. 

Dumbbells - Unless you have a lot of storage space and a lot of money, we would start off with a set of adjustable dumbbells.  Another option is to buy a set of dumbbell handles that you can slide weights onto like a barbell. 

Kettlebells - There's just so much you can do for a workout with a single kettlebell.  We would recommend getting 1 ore 2 different weights for a little variety. 

If you have the time and patience you can probably find many of these things used online.  Either way, it's great having equipment at home.  Watch out for sales too, especially around Thanksgiving.
