DON'T SACRIFICE YOUR BODY
DON’T SACRIFICE YOUR BODY
Mechanics -> Consistency -> (then and only then) -> Intensity
It’s easy to get caught up in lifting the most weight faster than anyone. I mean, it looks pretty cool right? The problem is that we aren’t always ready for those big weights and we can end up derailing our progress with injuries.
Let’s dial things back and talk about a smarter approach.
Step 1: Mechanics - Enlist a qualified coach to help you learn proper movement patterns and technique for each lift that you’ll be doing. Vet the coach to make sure they are trustworthy.
Step 2: Consistency - Practice movements at low intensity (light weights) until technique is reliably correct. Once you think you’re ready, practice more just to be safe.
Step 3: Intensity - You’ve learned proper technique. You’ve drilled those patterns in through consistent practice at light weights. NOW it’s time to safely add in intensity.
Move well, move safely, move longer.
