Should You Work Out When You're Tired or Hurt?

HAVING A BAD DAY? TRAIN ANYWAY

If you haven’t figured it out yet, they way you win is through long term consistency.  Not weeks of consistency and not even months of consistency.  We’re talking about years of consistency.

Anyone can decide they are going to train 3 times a week and stick to that for a couple of weeks.  The thing that separates successful people from everyone else is deciding they are going to train 3 times per week indefinitely.  THAT is where the progress is made.  Consistency beats intensity every time.

So once you’ve decided you’re going in for the long haul, don’t be shocked when there are days where you simple don’t want to train.  Maybe you didn’t sleep well.  Maybe your elbow is feeling a little wonky.  Guess what? Train anyway.  We’re not talking about pushing through injuries.  We’re talking about not letting  life let you break the habit of taking care of yourself.  So you’re tired? Maybe it won’t be your best training session ever. But maybe you will actually feel better once you get started.  Maybe since your elbow hurts you can put a bigger emphasis on your squats today?

The point is, we’ve got to make this a lifestyle and there will ALWAYS be things that can give us excuses if we let them.  Don’t do that.  Train anyway. Your future self will thank you.
