EMOTIONAL EATING

Big topic huh?  Emotional issues, mental health and depression are real and they are serious.  The World Health Organization estimates that 1 in 4 people will suffer from mental or neurological disorders in their lives.  If you are suffering from depression, anxiety or have trauma in your past that you need help processing, please reach out to a mental health professional.  They are trained to help you understand your illness and lead you to healthy resolution of your issues.

All to often we deal with mental / emotional issues with food.  We're stressed, sad, bored, lonely.. and we turn to food to try and make us feel better.

Some signs of emotional eating include:

Eating more when you're stressed.

Eating when you aren't hungry.

Rewarding yourself regularly with food.

Eating to soothe yourself.

Feeling powerless over your food choices.

The feeling of hunger we get when wanting to eat for emotional reasons isn't actually hunger from lack of food.  That's why we overeat when eating based on emotion and why we are never satisfied from it.   It's just what it sounds like, an emotional / mental issue that cannot be treated or satisfied by food.

If you struggle with emotional eating, we encourage you to find help either from a trained professional or from an expert on the subject.  You can do this.
