MACROS VS CALORIES

MACROS VS. CALORIES

If you've decided to start tracking/logging your food intake you've probably seen that it can be confusing.  Sometimes the numbers don't add up even though we know how many calories are in each gram of protein, carb and fat.   If you've run into this before we recommend just focusing on hitting your macro nutrient numbers.  Food packaging is notorious for rounding off caloric count.  By the end of the day, all of those rounded off numbers might leave 100-200 calories  unaccounted for.  When we work with someone one on one with their nutrition we are monitoring their progress and making adjustments to their macro nutrient  intake based on their results.  Those changes ultimately affect their caloric intake without them having to micromanage every calorie.

Don't misunderstand and think that calories don't matter. They do.  We're just talking about which metric we use to track progress.

Happy tracking!
