BE NEAT

N.E.A.T.  = Non Exercise Activity Thermogenesis

It’s pretty NEAT to think about but NEAT activities are the things that we do every day other than sleep, eat and exercise that burns calories.

Everything from keeping your house ‘neat’ (aka cleaning) and keeping your yard ‘neat’ (aka mowing) to texting ‘neat’ emojis to your friends on your phone and ‘neatly’ fidgeting your feet while you are sitting.  Ok, I’ll stop with the ‘neat’ but these are all ’NEAT’ activities.

Think about this.  You can burn 200-300 extra calories per day by increasing your NEAT activities.  Pile that on top of our goal of eating right and maintaining our calories and getting to the gym ‘x’ number of days per week and we are KILLING IT.  

Ready to have your mind blow:  If we use some of the alternative desserts we discussed earlier this week AND we increase our NEAT activities we could create a 500 calorie deficit per day.  If you do that all week you could lose a pound this week!
