Why Accountability is Key For Fitness Success

WILL POWER IS NOT ENOUGH

Accountability

Wouldn't it be nice if we were superhumans who could make a decision about what we want to do and execute flawlessly every time on that decision.  I don't know about you but I've never done that.  I mess up.  I don't do what I want to do.  I get down on myself and want to give up sometimes.  If you're like me, there's something you can try.  Tell someone what you're trying to do.  Tell them that you've made a decision about something and you are going to do XY&Z to accomplish that goal.  Most importantly, tell them that they have permission to check in with you periodically to ask you directly if you are doing what you said that you are going to do.  Ask them to hold you accountable.

Now, you have to choose the right person for this task.  Someone who is close enough with you that they feel comfortable being honest with you, and someone who you respect enough to listen to.  You have a responsibility in this relationship too.  You have to be 100% honest with them, you have to be willing to listen to them when you tell them you've slipped up and you have to not let the fact that they are holding you accountable hurt your relationship with them.  It's going to take the right person, but it's worth it.

Tag someone that you want to hold you accountable.
