KIPPING
KIPPING
If you’re a CrossFitter, you’ve probably seen people doing a strange pull-up variation that resembles an injured worm doing the movement.
It’s called a “kipping” pull-up. It utilizes the movement of a leg swing and hip thrust to create momentum that is transferred into the upward movement of the body toward the bar.
Crossfitters use them as way to make the movement easier so they go quicker and so that they can accumulate more volume.
In our gym and in our coaching, we require that athletes have the strength to do strict pull-ups before attempting kipping pull-ups. Strength and consistent form, before adding intensity. This is just a good practice for injury prevention.
