HOW TO REHAB

If you’ve been exercising for a while (and even if  you haven’t) you’ve no doubt had a few injuries along the way.

The overly simple “rest” prescription given out by professionals and non professionals alike is not usually the best course of action.

Here’s what we recommend.

For the time being, avoid movements that cause acute pain to the injury.  Not forever, but for now, while you recover.

Next, gradually start doing normal functional movements involving the affected area.  We need muscle activity and blood flow to heal.  Pay attention to avoid pain still.

Now that we are moving, let's add a small amount of intensity through work like isometric holds, and higher rep activity with very light loads.  Once again, muscle activity and blood flow.

Finally, we work to rebuild strength by slowly progressively adding load to the movement through a full range of motion.  Continue to add weight and range as pain allows and before you know it you will be back!
