What makes a good workout program?  

Here are our top 3 priorities when designing a program.

First -  Is it sustainable? There's no reason writing a program for someone that cannot follow it consistently because it's too complex, too much work etc... No one made progress on a program they didn't stick to.

Secondly - Does it include progression?  Said another way, does it cause the body to adapt and get stronger/more fit?  That doesn't just happen by accident.  The gym is full of people not making progress.  Program design is the secret sauce. 

Lastly - Exercise selection.  Based on the goal of the program, it must target the different energy systems of the body as well as the different muscles groups to achieve balance.  Choosing the right exercises, reps and time domains are the key variables here.
