WHY PROTEIN
WHY PROTEIN
Why are we always telling people to eat more protein? There's many reasons, but let's focus on one big one today.
When we exercise we are breaking down our muscle fibers. This considered a "catabolic" state. When we eat protein, the amino acids contained therein trigger muscle protein synthesis (muscle building). This puts a stop to the breakdown of the muscle and begins it's repair.
Staying in that positive state of muscle repair helps us build and maintain strength, recover from workouts and just generally keep our muscles healthy.
If you want to play it safe, try to get about 25 grams of protein into a meal or shake after you exercise, and at each meal.
